Fire on Mars?

I have never put a lot of thought into life on other planets. I sort of doubt we are alone in the universe but I been too busy trying to get life on this planet right to worry too much about life on other planets.
Yet I found myself to tired to get much accomplished and was rather bored so I decided to look at some of the Nasa photos taken by the Mars Rovers. I never expected to see something controversial, but I noticed something that makes me wonder.

The above photo is a reduced size of the Panoramic photo shown above. Notice on the left hand side a dark, smoke stack looking shape that is probably part of the rover. Just above and slightly to the right is a long dark shape that looks suspiciously like a pice of wood, but that is another story many have covered on the internet and I won't go there just now.
The point I noticed was almost directly above the object that looks like wood, way back in the distance, almost to the horizon. There is a little dot that at first looked like a reflection to me. That is what caught my eye.
Now go to the Nasa photo gallery and look at the last 3 photos on the top row, and the first photo on the 2nd row. Notice they all show that same log like piece of wood in the foreground. If you click on each of those 4 photos, you will see a larger version and it becomes quiet plain that something bright is in the background.
I downloaded each of those 5 photos (the original panoramic and the 4 in sequence) into Paint Shop Pro and cut out of the portion that shows just the bright spot, blew them up so you could see them a little better and this is the results.

I am not prepared to say it is most assuredly fire on Mars, but heres some things I noticed and found very interesting.
1) The photos obviously show the scene going from day light to darkness, all the area around this object is getting darker and the parts of this object that looks like a burned streak is getting darker, but the bright spots are not getting darker. To me, that means it must be either a reflection or have its own light source.
2) The rover is obviously moving slowly forward in this series because the angle of the dark (burned?) streak changes slightly. Yet the general shape of the dark streak and the various colors in the forground, maintain the same general shape. The light part does not. This suggests movement of the light spot.
3) Look closely are where the light spot sits in comparison to the dark streak. Sometimes it is above the dark streak, sometimes it is below. Again, this suggests movement.
The only logical explanation I can come up with on this is that is it a fire buring on Mars. Yet supposedly there is not enough oxygen on Mars for a fire to burn and even more so, supposedly there is no wood on Mars to be burned, although there could be other things beside wood that is capable of burning, but with the wood like shape in the foreground, it makes you wonder.
